Core Technology’s Crime Information Database (CID) is a database that is used to provide a standard approach to crime analysis and mapping. A CID is generated and stored at the agency level using data from an agency’s existing record management system. The data is loaded into the CID on a periodic basis and transformed into a standardized format, based on industry standards.
When combined with CIDs from multiple other agencies, a virtual data warehouse can be created where multiple databases appear as one data warehouse. The end result is shared information that can be used to effectively and efficiently research crime. The virtual data warehouse is the essence of information sharing.
